Those flying into this part of New Jersey will be pleased to find that Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) comes with plenty in the way of ground transportation.

Onsite are buses, car hire companies, shared-ride vans, taxi cabs, trains and limos, transporting passengers into not only Newark and New York, but also destinations and suburbs such as Bayonne, Bloomfield, East Orange, Elizabeth, North Bergen, Rutherford, Springfield, Union City and Weehawken.


Train


Newark Airport provides good connections to Manhattan's Penn Station, with PATH rapid-transit trains operating 24 hours a day, all through the week, serving downtown Manhattan and 33rd Street and including other stops along the way. Connecting the North Jersey Coast Line and the Northeast Corridor, there are up to three trains every hour and the journey into central New York city by train takes around one hour.

Both Amtrak and NJTransit transportation provide regular services to and from New York Penn Station and Newark Penn Station. These services also serve the North East Corridor between Washington D.C. and Boston. PATH trains provide a service to Newark Penn where passengers may connect via New Jersey Transit services.

The Airport Rail Link station is also linked to many other destinations including Newark and Philadelphia Also from the station AirTrain transport provides a short ride to airport Terminals buildings A, B and C and other places within the airport.

Shuttle Travel by Buses


Olympia Airport Express and the SuperShuttle Manhattan are among the services covering Manhattan, while services to Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island include Olympia Airport Express and AirPorter.

There are also a number of small companies that provide shuttle buses into New York city center from Newark Airport. The shuttle service desks are located in the airport Baggage Claim / Arrival areas of all the terminal buildings.

Public Transportation


The New Jersey Transit Bus no. 302 departs every 20 to 30 minutes and travels to the nearby Newark Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal, where there are good connections to New York city. Here there are connections onto the PATH train system. Olympia Airport Express offers bus services to Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central Station and downtown Manhattan.

Taxi Cabs


Taxis are readily available at Newark Liberty Airport, being outside of the Landslide exit of each of EWR's terminal buildings. They provide a convenient and easy way to travel into nearby Newark city (around 25 to 40 minutes) and beyond. Popular taxi destinations include Elizabeth, Edison, Hackensack, Hoboken, Jersey City, New Brunswick, Teterboro, Union City and Manhattan, as well as LaGuardia Airport and JFK International Airport.

Limousines


Various limousine and executive car companies are in operation at Liberty Airport, although be warned - many will tout for your business in the terminal. Instead, it is strongly advised to arrange any limo or similar via the Ground Transportation Information counters. Limousine companies such as Connecticut Limos, Dial 7 and Dave's Best travel to and from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island, as well as towns and cities as far away as Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Westchester.
