Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Orientation and Maps

(Newark, New Jersey (NJ), USA)

Close to New York, Newark is most famous for its airport and as a result, the city itself is often overlooked. This is a real shame, as Newark has plenty to offer and has become one of the most important cities in the state of New Jersey.

Located directly south of the city center, the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) stands next to the bay and has excellent connections to the area and nearby New York. Also nearby, the city of Philadelphia lies to the southwest, next to West Chester and Wilmington, while Providence and Springfield can be found to the northeast.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Maps: Important City Districts

New Jersey's city of Newark can be reached in approximately ten minutes from New York by train. The city's Penn Station features breathtaking neoclassical architecture and is worth a visit for the facade alone. The neighboring Ironbound District contains a prominent Portuguese community.

The city's best dining venues line much of Ferry Street, together with a number of excellent bakeries and cafes. Amongst the main highlights here, the Newark Museum can be found along Washington Street and is particularly famous for its impressive collection of Tibetan pieces. Another top attraction in Newark is the modern New Jersey Performing Arts Center, which regularly hosts many major concerts and musical events. Those who prefer a little more history will enjoy visiting the historical Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Hearts along Ridge Street.
